HOMEMADE SALSA
We enjoy the Hatch Medium Salsa from Central Market, but when we run out, I can simply whip up this easy to make salsa and it is delicious.
Just a tip: I try to keep these(*) ingredients below in my house, because there are so many things I can make with them on the fly, so to speak. Just sharing ideas with you!
I believe I learned how to make this salsa from a teacher colleague and old high school cheerleader friend of mine, Sheri. She shared it with me and we agreed that it tasted just like the salsa at one of our favorite hometown restaurants. I tried it the first time, and I loved it! I tweaked it just a little and have been making it ever since! So easy! So good!
Homemade Salsa
1 can (BPA free) Organic chopped tomatoes *
1 can (BPA free) Organic green chiles *
½ - 1 Organic small-medium yellow onion
1 handful fresh Organic cilantro
3-4 slices Organic jalapeno peppers from the jar
Sea Salt
Organic Cracked Black Pepper
Organic Garlic Powder
Organic Roasted Cumin Powder (Must be roasted as it makes a difference in taste.)
Just a tip: Organic is optional. I prefer it because I am highly susceptible to pesticides. And avoiding pesticides is the whole purpose of choosing organic products. There are some products that I don't concern myself too much with being organic, such as onions and lemons. But I choose organic as often as possible for not only the healthier, cleaner reason, but I believe you can definitely taste the difference.
Place all ingredients in blender. Season to taste. Blend until desired consistency to make a smooth or chunky salsa as desired. We enJOY eating it with blue corn tortilla chips. (They do not spike our blood sugar which makes it a better choice for us! Yea!
ENJOY YOUR SALSA!
Thanks and God Bless!
